Farmer H's "tomato guy" came through on Sunday. Seven tomatoes, from his garden. Farmer H forgot them! He had stopped by the senior apartments on the way home, and then sent me a text that he was going back down to his shop (20 minutes) to get them, and then back home (30 minutes).
Now those are REAL tomatoes! They felt all dusty, and some still had dirt clinging. I don't wash them until we're ready to eat one, because I think getting the skin wet might hasten their spoilage.
Farmer H had one with his supper of hot dogs and chips, and I had one with my leftover Chinese Chicken and Broccoli. They tasted like REAL tomatoes!
I hope Farmer H's tomato guy has a big garden!

yum! they look delicious. I have almost forgotten what REAL tomatoes taste like, I haven't bought any of the heirloom variety in weeks. No tomatoes at all actually. I've been stuffing myself with carbs to keep warm so I don't use the heating so much.
ReplyDeleteRiver,
DeleteYou have to fuel the internal furnace! The carbs are more efficient than tomatoes.
Nothing tastes so good as a vine ripened tomato! Mine are over producing this year and they are really big. I will be roasting a pan tomorrow with fresh garlic and Vidalia onions to make some sauce to freeze for the winter. Maybe a B, no L, T for lunch. Can't have The Patient getting sick with diarrhea. I am happy to report that he can do the paperwork involved, but he can't button his jeans and refuses to wear elastic waist shorts. He is more demanding than a two year old!
ReplyDeleteKathy,
DeleteI had another one tonight, and it was fantastic. Maybe you could get The Patient a nice muumuu to wear, with no elastic and no buttons!
