The Fine How-Do-You-Do

This morning Arch Nemesis shared that she was doing great when she first got here, but started losing steam around10:00. Ain’t that the truth. I, too, felt marvelous when I arose from my four-and-a-half hours of slumber at 5:00 a.m. Then began dragging by third hour. I suppose I just needed that energy boost from lunch at 10:53. My body was on Christmas vacation time…summer vacation time…FOREVER VACATION time!

We discovered mid-morning that our third quarter had been lengthened. That’s fair. More time to squeeze in my projects and final exam. Conferences have also been shoved ahead one week. Makes me no nevermind. They will be my next to next to last conferences I must ever attend. So…we’re looking at 11 weeks of school left. Which means only 9 more duty days for me, because we have two Fridays off. Single duty digits, baby!

AND, the best news ever, is that our last day is now May 22nd! Yeah. That means we don’t lap over into Memorial Day week, which would have been my lunch duty week! I’m not even mourning the loss of President’s Day week, which should have been my rightful lunch duty. And to think I was happy it was going to be a 4-day week! This duty year has been coming up roses for me. We’ll see what happens next year, when I should switch to Monday duties, and perhaps move down a week on the lunch duty list.

Sure, the faculty will have to make up two days after Memorial Day, but I don’t even care. I can clean out my cabinets for my very last year. Have you heard? I’m retiring at the end of next school year! Besides, The Pony will be doing his A+ tutoring hours at Elementia during summer school, so I would have to drop him off and pick him up anyway.

I can hardly wait to start next school year!

  1. Yes, I've heard. We've all heard. The whole country has heard. Even the people who are going to colonize that other planet--even their unborn and unconceived children--have heard.

Have YOU heard? I have 118 more years to go. But I hear retirement is not all it's cracked up to be. It's full of leisure time, of sleeping in, of long spells to read and write or just veg out. It's...

Never mind. I can't keep up the lying. The out-of-reach grapes are not bitter. They're the sweetest grapes I've ever imagined...

  2. I am hearing Carly Simon sing "Anticipation" in my mind!

  3. Sioux,
EVEN THE MARS PEOPLE? Wow. I thought I was flying under the radar with my supersecret totally anonymous blog. Now I'm looking over my shoulder. For the next 53 school days plus one year. But who's counting...

    Kathy,
I think maybe it's your pain meds again, dear. That song is for ketchup. My anthem is Alice Cooper's "Schools Out." FOREVER!
