If Wishes Were Horses, Then Farmer H Would've Taken HM For A Ride

Farmer H spilled the beans tonight on what he was going to give me for Valentine's Day. What he WAS going to give me. If he had it to give.

Seems there was a contest on the local radio station. A contest concerning a nearby winery. Farmer H called in, but tonight the winner was revealed, and it was not he. What could I have received for Valentine's Day?

The winner's package included an overnight stay and a tasting tour of the winery. Chocolate-covered strawberries. A bottle of wine. A meat and cheese tray. A special breakfast.

Let the record show that Mrs. Hillbilly Mom is not keen on spending the night away from her own home. She does not drink wine. She is not one for a big breakfast. Chocolate-covered strawberries, however, as well as meat and cheese, are compatible with her tastes.

Thanks, Farmer H. It's the thought that counts.

  1. I think Farmer H saw the word MEAT and he started salivating, and figured if he offered it as a gift for you, he'd get something (meat) that he really wanted... AND he'd get credit for a romantic gift.

Perhaps you should tell him that he could offer to go away for a few days (including a weekend), and you'd settle for a frozen pizza, a gas station soda, and wings.

    Uneaten wings, that is.

  2. It IS the thought that counts! HeWho will occasionally try to give a bunch of cut flowers, like roses. Everyone knows I would prefer a potted plant that I can nurture. One that will last longer than 10 days. When he does his trick, the daughters will look at him with raised eyebrows and ask, "do you even KNOW her?"

  3. Do wings come in the uneaten variety at your house?

  4. Sioux,
First of all, you are ASSuming Farmer H read the word MEAT. No. He can't be bothered with reading. He heard about the contest on the radio in the car. The salivating part is right, though, and his motive.

Secondly, Farmer H kind of smirked this evening, and said, "Oh. You guys have to go to school Monday if it doesn't snow, don't you?" That's because he's off. And I made sure he knew my feelings.

"Well, if you're going to be off, I'm glad I'm going to work."

Can you believe he didn't even have the decency to act hurt?

    Kathy,
I'm lucky Farmer H did not only spill the beans, but leave then on the floor, tell me they were his gift, and say, "I was only trying to give you something I thought you'd like."

    fishducky,
Yes. IF they're in a bag in the mini deep freeze in the laundry room. Too much work for Farmer H to go through the laundry room door from the kitchen. Even if they were in the side by side freezer of Frig II, they would be too much work for him to put on a pan and slide into the oven. In fact, I think they are too much work for him to take out of the bag and eat like a popsicle.
