Not Pearls Cast Before Swine, But Gems Spouted From The Pony

We made a casino trip on Tuesday. It has been THREE WEEKS, instead of the regular two, since our last visit. Of course we stopped by McDonald's for some breakfast, even though it was 11:00 a.m. this time when we got there.

The Pony had his regular breakfast meal of a sausage biscuit, hash brown, and Sprite, with an extra sausage biscuit. He was too full for any casino lunch this trip, what with us getting a later start. Farmer H ordered the two sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffins, one for him, one for me.

We were headed down the highway, an hour from the casino, as The Pony and Farmer H feasted on their breakfast sandwiches. I always save mine until we get about 20 miles from Casino Town. I did NOT have an eggshell in my sandwich this time! But I did get a surprise when The Pony handed it to me. He's in charge of the feedbag, of course.

"PONY! My McMuffin is WARM this time!"

"He's been resting in the skins of his brethren."

Sometimes, The Pony can be downright creepy.

  1. Do you wait to eat because you prefer the food cold? Or so that you aren't hungry right away when you hit the casino?
I remember when I used to eat Macca's foods they always tasted better piping hot. Macca's is what we call McDonalds, other people might call McDonald's the Golden Arches. Irrelevant now, since I no longer eat their offerings.

  2. River,
I wait to eat because of BOREDOM! The temperature is not a deal-breaker. Lukewarm is fine with me. But the drive is so boring! It seems like we'll never get there. So with 20 of those 55 highway miles left, I enjoy my McMuffin, and it takes my mind off time seeming to go backwards. I am a slow eater, and can be preoccupied with the food so that I don't count the mile markers every tenth of a mile. Which seems mighty wasteful to me. I think every mile or half mile would be sufficient.

I normally don't eat before 3:00 or 4:00 anyway. That happens when you get out of bed between 11:00 and noon. So this is an early treat for me! I still chow down on casino food, though! It's even treatier that a McDonald's treat. The only time Farmer H and I eat McDonald's food is on a trip, for breakfast on the road.

  3. How you'll miss his company when he gets a job and is able to move out into his onw pasture...

  4. Sioux,
I will definitely miss his strong legs and beast-of-burden-ness. He's not yet ready for his own pasture, but he's about to leave the barn and go into the paddock. More later, probably elsewhere.
