It's three minutes 'til midnight, and I'm tired. Tired from Thanksgiving preparations, and tired of fighting with HIPPIE's space bar. I just finished washing half the dishes. I would have done them all, but there's not room in the other side of the sink to put more for draining. Don't you dare suggest I use a towel to dry them! The air can do that. It's enough that I hand-wash them.
I'm so tired I could lay my head down on the table and sleep right here. My heater is nice and toasty on my legs. I fear my rumpus might revolt over sitting on a hard wooden chair the rest of the night. So I'll go to the short couch to watch TV. I might make it five minutes before I nod off. I hope there's a good program on...

I am happy to turn the holidays over to my children and put my feet under someone else's table! It is a lot of work, hosting a holiday meal. I had pies as my assignment. I made to pecan pies and two drunken apple pies. Since I had to wait until I arrived to make them, I used store bought crusts to make it easier on myself. The ganglion cyst on my hand made peeling apples painful, so my daughter did that and I just had to mix the ingredients in a bowl and dump it in the already prepared crust. Easy peasy. My girl is a smart one and assigned all the side dishes to the people who would be eating. She did finger foods, potatoes au gratin and my son-in-law smoked the turkeys. And ..... she has a dishwasher that my son-in-law will empty and fill! I did help him clean up the kitchen, since I knew his "cleaning" of all the surfaces would not be up to her standards!
Kathy,
I would be hurtin' for certain without The Pony's help. That said, I can't imagine The Pony hosting Thanksgiving!
I would never suggest using a towel to dry dishes, but I will suggest a thick towel be laid on the bench for more washed dishes to be stacked onto. I've done that myself plenty of times.
River,
We used to do that at my mom's house. She had a dishwasher, but it was broken. I was so tired I didn't even think of it. If I had, I'm not sure I would have traipsed into the laundry room or hall closet to get a thick towel.
