Look And Listen

I am on the lookout for those three inches of snow that are supposed to be coming Hillmomba's way after 2:00 a.m.

My main concern is that I will hurt my eyes looking for the snow, much like that squirrel-headed b*astard at the Monarch Boarding House in the original John Wayne True Grit warned Glen Campbell as LaBeouf to look out for the chicken and dumplings, because he might hurt his eyes looking for the chicken.

The #1 son is out and about in his little Ford Ranger, taking in a basketball tournament and eating up some nachos with a Christmas gift card. I cautioned him to be in by 7:00, to which he replied he would be in by "Sevenish," meaning before 8:00.

Now I hear that there is sleet in the area. I am certain that #1 took off without a one of the three pairs of gloves he received for Christmas. I know for a fact that he left the Mansion without bagging up the trash that I told him three times that I wanted done before he left.

That boy inherited his father's hearing.

How much sloppy wet snow did you get? We got maybe a 1/2 inch here.

Chick,
We got 2.5 inches. It was beautiful around 4:00 a.m. Not quite hamster-sized flakes, but more like big-a$$ spider size. This is pretty close to the second forecast of 1-3 inches, the first being just a dusting. Then it was revised to .5 to 1 inch at 10:00 p.m.

I still have issues with those chief meteorologists. If they make enough different predictions, one will be right. And like when a psychic hits something at random, you think they know what they're doing, and forget the wrong guesses.

By 11:00 a.m., it had all melted, except along the road right-of-way. It looks like they plowed it, because big chunks lined the roads. Farmer H said there was quite a bit on the road on the way to work at 6:00 a.m.

I think the TV stations are afraid of being sued. Everytime it rains around here the talking heads are warning about high water and not to drive through it. I suppose some dumb a$$ drove through high water and died and the family sued the weather company, ya' think? Then again, Katrina WILL make you think......I do keep track as best I can to the weather. As a younger person, I used to become angry when my parents called and the conversation "dwindled" to the weather. Naive me. It is important - our lives depend upon it.

In regard to house and boy rules:

First time you did't know or understand;
Second time,it was a mistake.
Third time - you are in a world of stupid - and punishment will happen. The trash will be taken care of or ...(fill in the blank).

knancy,
Uh huh. Or when somebody wipes out on a snow-slickened road that MODOT didn't plow or salt because of the forecast.

As for the trash situation...I am fighting a losing battle. I need a united front. Farmer H took out the trash for #1, after telling him twice. Yeah. That'll dissuade him from not taking it again, I'm sure. Because the punishment is that Dad takes it out for him.
