It's only 9:44 p.m. as I type this, but I'm giving up. Throwing in the towel. Two towels, to be exact. I'm closing my laptop and tossing in a load of laundry, and going to sit on the short couch in my sock cap, two jackets, and pull The Pony's extra-soft fleece throw over every part of my body except my head.
It's been a rough 24 hours, fraught with HIPPIE's death and 8-hour resuscitation efforts, phone problems, and the excruciating cold of my kitchen table office. So I'm done. I'm quitting before the end of my nose drops off from frostbite. Farmer H declares that the temperature is 70 degrees, as shown on the thermostat. But the thermometer by the kitchen door says 66. And I don't think it responds to drafts.
Catch you later, alligators.

I hope you don't freeze later in the week when the temperature gets below freezing.
Angie,
I think it was the thought of that weather moving in that made me feel extra cold. That, and Farmer H fanning the kitchen door as he walked out in his underwear and a vest, barefoot, to feed Juno her can of food! It was already in the upper 20s when he went out.
66 is 19C, so that's jacket weather here too, for some of us at least, depends which way the wind is coming from.
HIPPIE died??? Oh no. That's reason enough to slouch on the couch even without the cold coming in through that fanning door. Whatever will you do without him/her?
River,
HIPPIE has been resuscitated FOR NOW. He's not the same, but he's chugging along. I might need to develop a backup plan, since New Delly is even older, having been built by Genius specifically for me. It's been so long since New Delly was turned on that he might explode if updates try to start.
I have several external hard drives in assorted sizes: 1 terrabyte, 2 terrabytes and 4 terrabytes. One of the 1TB's hold all my backed up stuff from my Toshiba, another holds Christmas movies, the 4TB's hold movies and TV series, and one of the 2TBs is used for backing up my Asus several times a year. They're all labelled so I know what's on which one.
If I need anything that I know was on the Toshiba I just plug in the hard drive and transfer it.
River,
Sweet Gummi Mary! I should have sent my tax files to you for storage!
In other news, The Pony says he has an old laptop ready to go if I need it. In fact, he has two old laptops, both NEWER than my HIPPIE!
When I was unpacking I discovered EIGHT old laptops that HeWho has used and declared them to be dead and ordered himself another. When Jeff visited I sent all of them with him, over the objections of the man who had said they no longer worked. Too bad, I loaded them into the truck of his car myself. He called me about a month later and having checked all of the computers, found only one wth a bad drive, but he can use the parts to fix others. He asked if he should send the other 7 back and I told him to sell them and buy his mom a nice gift! He did.
Kathy,
Genius would check them out and sell them online. Whether he had permission or not! Once it's "dead" and turned over to him, he has his way with it. Not so much anymore, because he lives too far away.
