Guess who got a sore throat around noon on Saturday. Yep. Mrs. HM!
How is that possible??? Farmer H's symptoms started Thursday morning, after his casino visit on Tuesday morning. I had been avoiding his presence since he declared sickness. In fact, I even cautioned him not to breathe on me while he was getting some Oreos from his stash on the kitchen table while I was sitting there at HIPPIE.
I was SO careful not to touch my face, lest I had picked up Farmer H's germs from the kitchen faucet or FRIG II's door handle or the TV remote. I suppose I didn't count on transferring his germs from one item to another.
I'm thinking that maybe I had used the TV remote after Farmer H went to bed, and it was riddled with his cooties, and then later I used my same hand to flip open the spout on my metal water bottle.
Anyhoo... I've been dosing Farmer H with an extra vitamin at night, in an attempt to help him fight off his sickness. Saturday evening, he sounded fairly normal, and was not snotty, and said he felt better.
I've already set out an extra vitamin for myself.

You're forgetting that many germs are also airborne so they can transfer that way too. I'm sorry to hear that you now have that cold though and hope you get over it quickly. How is The Pony? Still cold free?
P.S. and did you both handle the same soup ladle?
I can connect with my fave blogs again! Don't know why or what happened, but I'll take it! Zinc, take zinc as a matter of fact. Can't hurt, might help. The nurse at the cardiac rehab suggested it to HeWho was complaining that his food no longer tasted good. She said this was common on blood thinners after a cardiac event and told him to take zinc twice a day. It worked after 2 days and I have continued to add it to his daily regimen of pills. A pharmacist was convinced it prevented or lessened the cold symptoms. I take it too and we don't get colds as often as we used to. It is relatively cheap, so give it a try.
River,
I didn't forget! That's why I forbade Farmer H to stand so close and talk to me at the kitchen table. When I call him in to get his food, I leave the area. He just barged in for the Oreos, and I didn't have a chance to escape.
The Pony has another issue. He's taking antibiotics for a UTI. I'm pretty sure he didn't pick it up at the casino like Farmer H's sickness!
River 2,
As a matter of fact... we DID! I'm leaning more towards the airborne theory now, since mine started with a soreness at the back of the right side of my throat. Not with a runny nose or watery eyes. I'm a mouth-breather. So I figure I inhaled Farmer H's cast-off virus, rather than rubbing it in my eye or poking it up my nose.
Kathy,
So glad you're back! You might have missed out on our newest pet, PUPSIE!
Zinc is included in our "vitamin." It has zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, quercetin, and elderberry. Farmer H is sounding normal on the 4th day of his sickness. Says he is still a "little sick," but you can't tell it from his appetite or behavior. He's been a regular dynamo while trapped in the Mansion today by snow.
