Once again, I am worried about Fave. She was there Thursday as normal, behind the counter at the Gas Station Chicken Store. I was the only customer at the time. I handed her my winners, and the envelope with her tickets I give every week. She thanked me, and rang up my scratchers.
Something was off. Fave was a bit subdued. Not herself. I wondered if I had said something out of line last week. We joke around. But I couldn't recall anything. We were fine when I left on Sunday.
Fave wished me good luck. I started the three steps towards the door. Then Fave said,
"My dad is in the hospital. He had two strokes. He went in to fix something in his shoulder. He had the strokes on the operating table. Also he aspirated. He has pneumonia and an infection. He's been there since Tuesday. The hospital just called to see if I knew his wishes. I didn't know what to say."
Well. That is very sad news. I am hoping something good will happen, and Fave's dad will respond to treatment. It will be no mystery if she is not there on Friday.

Oh no! no no no! I am so sorry to hear this, Fave must be devastated. My own eyes are tearing up now.
River,
Fave has been on my mind. She was working on Friday. I didn't want to bring up the subject, in case there wasn't good news. On Saturday, Fave was not there. The other gal was working her shift. I also did not ask her for any info. I guess I don't want to hear bad news. I can only send good wishes her way in the meantime.
Poor Fave :'( it is never easy to lose a parent.
jj,
I still don't know how he's doing. Fave was gone Saturday, but back on Sunday. I didn't ask. But I figure she wouldn't have been there if it was a dire situation. Her eyes didn't look cry-y. I'm hoping her dad is improving.
Fingers crossed he is on the mend!!
jj,
I really hope so. I guess I will hear eventually, but I don't plan to ask. Just in case.
