Farmer H's "tomato guy" came through on Sunday. Seven tomatoes, from his garden. Farmer H forgot them! He had stopped by the senior apartments on the way home, and then sent me a text that he was going back down to his shop (20 minutes) to get them, and then back home (30 minutes).
Now those are REAL tomatoes! They felt all dusty, and some still had dirt clinging. I don't wash them until we're ready to eat one, because I think getting the skin wet might hasten their spoilage.
Farmer H had one with his supper of hot dogs and chips, and I had one with my leftover Chinese Chicken and Broccoli. They tasted like REAL tomatoes!
I hope Farmer H's tomato guy has a big garden!
