... what you'll see is no surprise
If you go down to the creek today
You'll surely recognize
That ne'er-do-wells will never do well, this much is for certain
After the day the ne'er-do-wells have their picnic
Maybe it was just one ne'er-do-well, and a gang of teetotalers. But they were also ne'er-do-wells, because Do-Wells don't let their buddy Do-Wells get away with never doing well.
Maybe that's not even a beer bottle. Maybe it's one of those freaky root beer bottles made to look like a beer bottle. Because that's cool, right, to let kids look like they're drinking beer? Like the candy cigarettes from my childhood, with the tips colored red like a burning ember? Ah, good times, before we became such a crybaby wimp society!
Anyhoo... I can't imagine somebody sitting in their car parked beside our creek drinking a root beer and then throwing out the bottle. But I CAN imagine them imbibing an alcoholic beverage, and casting the empty out the window, for less evidence if they were stopped for a DUI.

Is there not a refundable deposit amount on your glass bottles there? So people can store them until they have a decent load, then take them to a recycling center and get cash back?
River,
I'm sure there is some kind of refund, probably printed on the bottle. We don't buy glass bottles. I don't know anyone who recycles them. A lot of people recycle the aluminum cans. Farmer H used to, and then gave them to Genius along with some aluminum door and window frames when he started driving. I guess to help him earn some money, and learn the junking trade.
Farmer H used to hoard his aluminum, and other metals, until the price went up. He had a regular guy he called Good Buddy that he took them to. Also the copper that he had from burning scrap wire he hauled off from his old workplace. He had to give his ID and information to Good Buddy for copper, because of thieves, in case the police came to question Good Buddy about his suppliers.
We do the aluminum cans so that Alex (12 year old brain ) can bag them and get the money. Tried to do plastic when a company put a collection bin at the Shell station up the road. The station manager got mad at us for taking them there and made the company pull the bin. Cost the station nothing and no one benefitted except the recycler. I was just happy to have more dumpster space available for actual garbage. No glass recycle close here.
Sorry. If that's a song, I don't recognize it... You stumped me.
Kathy,
Dang! That station manager must have been really jealous of your plastic. Town trash routes here used to give out bins for different materials. Then the landfill stopped dealing with recycling. Money makes the world go 'round. Until it's too clogged with trash to spin!

Sioux,
Well, Stumpee, that happens to be "Teddy Bears' Picnic," by Anne Murray, our singing-neighbor to the north.
